Hi everyone! I'm Silvia from Humana People to People, and I’m so glad to welcome you to this special forum series in the lead-up to #InternationalYouthDay on August 12.
Based on the findings of a pan-African survey we conducted in partnership with AUDA-NEPAD, the Youth Voices report presents a unique, youth-led perspective on the realities of TVET across the continent. Focused on young people aged 15–30, it brings their experiences, insights, and aspirations to the forefront of the skills development conversation.
It highlights not only the challenges young people face, but also the untapped potential of TVET to drive economic resilience and equitable development in Africa.
📢 Notably, 86% of youth say they would recommend TVET to their peers, showing they believe in its value and are ready to lead by example. Far from passive recipients, young people are calling to be heard, trusted, and empowered as active agents in shaping the future of skills systems.
That’s exactly what this week is all about. Over the next few days, we’ll be bringing youth voices forward: Célio Monteiro José, Adaugo Felix and Shauri Kalibatha Jonathan. These young people are turning local challenges into innovative solutions, using skills to power sustainability, circular economies, and social impact.
Each day, these inspiring changemakers will share their journey here, along with a question to spark discussion in the forum. I’d love to hear your reflections, experiences, and ideas.
In the meantime, you can dive deeper into the insights of the survey and youth stories in the full publication here: https://www.africaskillsrevolution.org/
Looking forward to the conversations ahead!
